The eight album from this band from Sweden.
The band was a quartet with a lineup of tambourine, percussion, drums, bass, guitars, keyboards and vocals.
A handful of guests added acoustic guitars, synths, cymbals, mini moog and vocals.
Cross is not a band that has impressed me most. I have reviewed a handful of their albums so far and I have still two more CDs to review, in addition to this review.
Their first albums was too much wishy-washy neo-prog and art-rock for my liking. But after some minutes of listening to this album, it is obvious that this is not the case for The Thrill Of Nothingness.
One hour long, it is.
The band has moved closer towards Scandinavian symphonic prog on this album. There is some Kaipa and indeed old Cross here. Ditto for The Flower Kings too. There is also a lot of Genesis, Yes and ELP here too. Add some cinematic music on the top of all this again.
There are a lot of very good guitar hooks/riffs and solos here. The vocals are good and the musicians does a great job.
This is by far their best album and a very good one too.
Check out this album.
