Quasar - Fire in the Sky (1982)

The debut album from this band from Great Britain.

The band was a quintet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, synths, moog bass pedals, organ and vocals.

Three guests added drums, minmoog and keyboards.

This band released three albums before they split up and then reformed as Landmarq. I have just completed my reviews of the Landmarq albums and have also reviewed the final two Quasar albums in my three blogs with the same name.

The music here is neo-prog and the sound is the 1980s plastic fantastic sound. A sound based on some very poor synths. The vocals is also somewhere in the background, trying desperate to find some air before it get drowned out in a poor soundscape.

The songs are OK. There are not many interesting details and some of the songs are pretty poppy and straight forward melodic. The vocals are decent enough.

The result is a decent album and a reminder that some of the productions from this era has not survived the scrutiny of today's day and age.
