Rick Miller did the programming, bass, guitars, keyboards and vocals himself.
He got help from six guests who added drums, percussion, guitars, violin, cello and flutes.
I have reviewe around ten of his first albums back in 2022 for this blog. He is now releasing a new album so it is about time to get myself updated on his albums.
Altered State was released one year ago.
The music is the usual fare we can expect from him. That means soft rock with some ambient pieces, neo-classical pieces and some soft symphonic prog pieces.
His vocals is very good. The music is slow to ambient.
The music is not particular technical or full of details. The guitars are good though. The melodies are good and memorable.
Altered State is one of his better albums and it is indeed a good album. Do not expect to be knocked over by musicianship, dynamic music or uber-intelligent life on this album.
