Dream Theater - A View from the Top of the World (2021)

The 15th album from this band from USA.

The band was a quintet with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, keyboards and vocals.

The so far latest offering from these creators of progressive metal. The most successful band in this genre, no less.

The band reverted back to progressive metal on the previous album Distance Over Time after a couple of symphonic progressive metal albums who included choirs and symphonic orchestras. Two not so good albums.

The 2019 album Distance Over Time gave me hope for this band. I was hoping that the band would find their feet again.

The music on the seventy minutes long A View From The Top Of The World is both very complex and hard. The band is trying to find their groove again. The groove that made this band so big and so great.

The band goes for metal in other words.

The vocals is good and most of the music is also good. The songs are still not up to an acceptable standards and this album is therefore a bit of a miss.

I hope the band will do better next time around.

2.5 points
