Ring Van Möbius - Commissioned Works Pt II (2023)

The third album from this band from Norway.

The band is a trio with a lineup of drums, timpani, tubular bells, glockenspiel, percussion, bass, guitars, piano, keyboards, organ, moog, mellotron and vocals.

This band has so far released two great albums. Two very impressive albums. Their claim to the throne as the kings of Norwegian progressive rock is a strong one.

Hence, I was very happy when I got a reviewer version of their new album. An album to be reviewed in mid July 2023. Hence, I am too early with this review. Something I just discovered. But.... Anyway.

The band still sounds like a marriage between Van Der Graaf Generator and ELP. The music has become even more complex on this album and there is clear Yes references in their music too.

The music is very bombastic, epic and complex.

It is also uplifting and has a lot of great melodies and details.

This album is by no means easy listening. It takes a lot out of the listener. It demands a lot from the listener.

Then and only then does the album reveal itself.

This is another great album from this Norwegian band and surely one of the best albums so far this year.

The throne is yours, Ring Van Mobius.
