This band and album is Morten Søbyskogen's tribute and story of his wife Astrid who sadly passed away due to cancer last year. Cancer is a massive killer and it touches everyone. Hence, I wanted to review this album and give it some attention.
This is a concept album about the time between Astrid getting the diagnosis and her tragic passing.
The music is doom metal. The Finnish band Swallow The Sun is a very good reference here. There is also some funeral doom here.
The five original compositions is really good. The inclusion of Iron Maiden's Only The Good Die Young fits the concept... but it still feels strange. OK, it a good addition to the album as it has been made into a doom composition.
I am really positive surprised by this good album. I do not know if it is a one off album. If it is not, this is a band to keep an eye on. If it is, get this album from Bandcamp.
Astrid, your husband has indeed given you a fitting tribute. R.I.P.
