Pentwater - Out of the Abyss (1992)

The second album from this US band.

The band was a sextet on this album with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, violin, oboe, flute, keyboards, theremin and vocals.

The debut was an OK mix of classic progressive rock with lots of Gentle Giant, Kansas and Yes references.

So they found that formula and decided to keep it on album # 2.

There is some added King Crimson here and lot more Gentle Giant than on their debut album. The album is more eclectic than before.

There is still some Yes and Kansas influences here. But the band takes more chances on this album. They are more playful.

The vocals are good and the other instruments does their bits too. The sound is pretty good too.

This is indeed a good album. A one hour long album who also include a live track at the end.

It is a hidden gem and it is well worth checking out.
