Løvetann - En Duft Av Roser (2002)

The second album from this band from Norway.

The band was a sextet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, keyboards and vocals.

Fezza Ellingsen was the main man and guitarist on Høst's legendary Hardt Mot Hardt album. An album with classic status in Norwegian rock.

Løvetann is a project/band he has been running and releasing strictly limited CD-R albums with since 1998. Discocs is a bit confusing here but we are talking about nine or so albums. All of them almost impossible to find... at the moment.

This is the only one of their CD-R albums I could find.

The music is a mix of art-rock and good old progressive rock from the 1970s. Van Der Graaf Generator and Peter Hammill mostly springs to mind.

The vocals is operatic. Both the male and the sporadic female vocals. The music is not particular epic or operatic. The contrasts between the pretty basic melodies and the opera vocals is interesting and the main takeaway from this album and band.

The music is good throughout and we are really, really talking about a well hidden gem here. This album and band really deserve proper releases or at least a Bandcamp page.
