Arcansiel - Four Daisies (1988)

The debut album from this band from Italy.

The band was a quintet with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, keyboards, saxophone, clarinet and vocals.

This band has so far released four albums and their latest album was released some weeks ago. I got three of their albums up for review this month.

The band is one of the first Italian neo-prog bands.... if not the very first one. Bands like IQ, Pendragon and Marillion was the big bands in the genre back then.

The saxophone and clarinet adds a unique sound to their take on neo-prog. The music is also pretty pop based too and not overly complicated. There are some Genesis influences but that is all. The music in this forty minutes long album sounds more like a pop music influenced Marillion than Genesis.

The vocals is pretty good and there are some good melodies here. The sound is a bit poor and most of this album is decent enough. It is an acceptable debut album from a largely forgotten band.
