Steady. Matt – The Dragon's Refrain (2024)

The debut album from this artist from Great Britain.

Matt Steady did the bass, guitars and vocals here.

He got help from some guests who provided drums, bass, violin, pipes and female backing vocals.

Matt Steady has been advertising his free CDs for a while on Facebook and other places. The description, uplifting celtic folk rock and prog rock, tempted me to order one and it duly arrived in a promo CD packing. Very kind of Matt and I am grateful for the CD.

Having no expectations that the CD would deliver on the promises, music wise, I was surprised to discover that the music is what was promised.

Uplifting celtic rock with some progressive rock, yes. But let me expand and add my views too.

The first minutes of the CD has a long guitar solo and that reminded me a lot about what Andy Latimer & Camel did on the Harbour Of Tears album. There is indeed a lot of Camel influences. Camel fans should therefore right here and now order this free CD.

There are some vocals orientated celtic folk rock here too. The vocals are good and the songs decent. Horslips springs to mind here as a comparison.

There is a lot to enjoy on this seventy minutes long album. The quality is good throughout and this album is a nice addition to a folk rock and prog rock collection. Order it from Matt Steady's homepage.
