Sub Rosa - The Gigsaw (2010)

The debut album from this band from Brazil.

The band was a quintet with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, synths, keyboards and vocals.

They got support from a handful of guests who provided drums, violin, cello, guitars, keyboards and vocals.

This band has so far released two albums and both of them are up for reviews this winter.... starting with this album.

The band got a minor hit with their second album and a review of that album will follow pretty soon.

On their debut album, their music is a mix of 1970s psych, symphonic prog and folk rock. Add some good, old rock from Brazil and you get this.

The vocals are a mix of male and female. And they are good.

The sound is really warm and gentle. It is the typical 1970s progressive sound and has some good RPI references too.

The quality is a mix of decent and good. Mostly good. This is therefore a good album and one to check out for mostly retro-heads.
