Henry Cow - In Praise Of Learning (1975)

The third album from this British band.

The band was a seven piece big band with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, clarinet, xylophone, organ, oboe, bassoon, guitar, piano and vocals.

The band had help from a handful of other musicians who provided trumpet, saxophone, oscillator, clarinet, guitar and vocals.

The third album from this RIO band. A band who delivered the most dense avant-garde I have ever heard on the first two albums.

Two not so good albums either. Hence, I was not looking forward to reviewing this album.

The first part of this album is vocals orientated with some good vocals and good weird instruments. Dagmar Krause did the vocals and she did a great job.

The second part is more a drone and a sound collage. There are some vocals here too.

The first part with the vocals is good.

The overall quality is in short good and this is the first Henry Cow I have really connected with.

Check it out.
