Oldfield. Mike - Q.E.2 (1980)

The seventh album from this British artist.

Mike Oldfield did the guitars, bass, synths, exotic percussion, vocals, banjo, celtic harps, bagpipes, piano and vocals himself.

He got help on strings, woodwinds, drums, percussion, synths, keyboards and female vocals.

Mike Oldfield returned again. Virgin Records thought they had a Tubular Bells'ish album again and gave Mike free hands. With good reasons.

Mike Oldfield is in many case a genius in the same class as Mozart etc etc. A flawed genius but still a genius.

I have got nothing but respect and admiration for him.

Q.E.2 is in my opinion his best album since Tubular Bells.

Yes, the music is a bit cheesy as it is his take on folk rock and classical music. But that is what he does and it has created some great music on these albums.

Mike Oldfield is a master on the guitars and the addition of Maggie O' Reilly's vocals is great.

Most of this forty minutes long album is very good. A bit cheesy but still very good.

This is indeed a very good album and one the check out.
