Crucible - Curtains (2001)

The second and final album from this US band.

The band was a quartet with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, piano, organ, keyboards, synths, mellotron and vocals.

This band only gave us two albums and that is a shame. Only two albums....

Their debut album was a very good album indeed and I went searching for this album too. I found it.

Crucible did symphonic prog with a lot of Kansas influences. Add some RPI, Yes and some Barclay James Harvest too and you get this album.

The guitars and the keyboards sound is very good.

Ditto for the vocals.

Their sound is very good too and it has a lot of warmth and pastoral organic life.

These forty-three minutes runs fast on this album.

It is indeed a very good album and this band is one of those forgotten gems in the scene. Both their albums is recommended.

3.5 points
