Min Bul - Min Bul (1970)

The one and only album from this band from Norway.

The band was a trio with a lineup of drums, bass, soprano saxophone and guitars.

Terje Rypdal, the famous jazz guitarist, played guitars and did the saxophone here. He had help from two other Norwegians on this album too.

Terje Rypdal started up as a beat and rock guitarist before changing genre. This album was his first jazz album if I am not much mistaken.

This album has got a cult following and has been re-released on LP and CD many times since 1970.

The music is a mix of free jazz and avant-garde jazz. It is pretty melodic though and Terje Rypdal's skills shines through these forty minutes.

The drummer Espen Ruud and the bassist Bjornar Andresen also does an impressive job here. The rhythms is pulsating behind Terje's free form jazz.

The music is also surprisingly melodic with some great solos.

The result is a good album and a cult status well deserved.

Check out this album if jazz is your thing.
