Phlebotomized - Clouds of Confusion (2023)

The fourth album from this band from the Netherlands.

The band is listed as a seven piece big band on this album and with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, keyboards and vocals.

This band got my attention on their first two EPs from 1993...which is thirty years ago. I reviewed both of them for ProgArchives around thirteen years ago.

The band has also released full length studio albums and I should check out their first three albums sometimes later on.

The band played doomy death metal with some prog rock influences on their two first EPs. Hence their inclusion in ProgArchives as the band was one of the first band to combine death metal and progressive rock.

There are still some progressive rock on this album. The music is also a mix of doom metal and death metal. A lot of blast beats and more doomy riffs.

The band has refined their style from the first two EPs but not moved too far from their origins. There is more death metal than usual and that is it.

Fans of progressive and slightly melodic death metal should check out this one hour long album. The quality is decent to good too.
