Runemagick - Requiem of the Apocalypse (2002)

The fourth album from this band from Sweden.

The band was a quartet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars and vocals.

The band had left Century Media. The small Norwegian label Aftermath Music then signed them for this and some more albums.

This album is one hour long and sees the band on the path from a sraight death metal band to a more doom metal band.

The music is still rooted in death metal, the Florida style death metal, but it still has some more melodic and some more doom metal influences.

That makes the music not particular brutal, the usual death metal standards of brutality applied. Most people will say the music is far too brutal.... but not when it comes to this genre.

There is still a lot for a death metal fan to enjoy here. There is also some more doom stuff here which is a pointer for where this band was heading.

The result is a decent album which has a lot to offer. Check it out if death metal floats your boat.
