The seventh album from this band from USA.
The band is a trio with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass and guitars.
I have reviewed three of their albums, album 2, 3 and 4. Albums I gave good ratings. Somehow, their firstm fifth and sixth album has bypassed me. I will see what I do next years about that.
I have to admit that instrumental prog is no longer something that really excite me. Nevertheless, this band has always incorporated Middle-East and Turkish folk music into their brand of instrumental prog.
That is.... until this album.
The music on the forty-three minutes long The Stare has some Turkish folk music elements. But most of the music is straight instrumental prog with some djent and post-metal influences.
The band has lost a lot in stripping down their music and this album is not them at their finest.
The music is not bad. With the exception of the Turkish ethno elements, this album is not really an album that sound interesting. It feels like the band has taken a break from their normal activities. Hence....
