The second album from this band from Great Britain.
The band was a sextet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, violin, keyboards and vocals.
This is one of the bands who has yet to be included in ProgArchives, the website I and so many other use as a reference for everything prog.
The Mighty Bard is clearly a progressive rock band. The music on their first album was quite symphonic too. Genesis and Yes was two pretty obvious inspirations for that album.
The band has reigned in their symphonic prog influences on Beyond The Gate and gone for a more neo-prog approach.
There are still some Genesis influences here. There is also some Pink Floyd like music here. There are also some folk rock influences here and Mostly Autumn is a good reference in this respect.
The band has gone a lot more melodic and less complex, less quirky on this one hour long album.
The music is still good and this band has become one of the better bands in the more melodic end of the British progressive rock scene. Both their albums can be purchased from Bandcamp.
